Smiling Veteran Holding Daughter

Commissioner Mark Weinkrantz is an Air Force Veteran who proudly served our country. He knows the importance of proper health care, robust resources, and unfailing support for Veterans and their families.

Mark understands the need for Veterans’ advocates, programs for homeless Veterans, greater access to mental healthcare, and suicide prevention programs.

Last year, Republicans in Congress proposed a twenty-two percent cut to our budget for Veterans’ services. According to the White House, “Cutting funding by 22 percent would mean 30 million fewer veteran outpatient visits, and 81,000 jobs lost across the Veterans Health Administration—leaving veterans unable to get appointments for care including wellness visits, cancer screenings, mental health services, and substance use disorder treatment.”

Florida is home to more Veterans than the entire nation of Canada – nearly 1.5 million – and over 93,000 live in the Tampa Bay area. They are depending on these critical services. Across our nation, approximately 22 Veterans die by suicide each day. We can and must do better.

It is imperative that our Veterans and their families have a Representative in government advocating for them. Mark is a Veteran and he will be a fierce advocate for all of the men and women in our armed forces.
